Position Description: This internship spans 10 weeks per session, with approximately six sessions offered between March and September 2025. Sessions will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis, and schedules are open for discussion. Applicants with an interest in wildlife rehabilitation and the husbandry of birds of prey are encouraged to apply.
This is a full-time internship, approximately 40 hours per week, and will include weekends and potentially holidays. A part-time schedule may be negotiable; however, preference will be given to candidates able to commit to full-time hours.

WildCare’s Wildlife Hospital is divided into two sections, the Songbird Hospital, where we treat only songbird patients (including pigeons and baby corvids), and the Clinic, which treats all the rest of our avian patients (raptors, water and shorebirds, adult corvids), as well as mammals, reptiles and amphibians.
The Clinic Hospital Manager (CHM) reports directly to the Assistant Director of Animal Care (ADAC) and co-manages the hospital alongside the Songbird Hospital Manager. The Clinic Hospital Manager’s main responsibility is the clinic, whereas the Songbird Hospital Manager’s main responsibility is the birdroom. This is not a seated desk position.
The Clinic Hospital Manager is responsible for overseeing and orchestrating numerous aspects related to running the Clinic side of the Wildlife Hospital, including, but not limited to; providing direct, hands-on animal care during and outside of regular hours, as well as managing all aspects of daily shifts such as animal care,both medical and husbandry and personnel management such as Wildlife Technician and Assistant, volunteer, and/or intern training and guidance to ensure that all tasks are completed well and in a timely manner.
The Clinic Hospital Manager must be able to work collaboratively with equal sensitivity to the care of the animals and the needs and requirements of the volunteers and staff, and the public, in order to build and maintain a respectful and professional culture within rehabilitation functions and throughout all of WildCare.

Candidates must be able to professionally manage the main facility operations and assist the satellite facilities (Oʻahu, Lānaʻi) in coordination with the DWRVM, wildlife agencies and assisting veterinary clinics. Candidates should possess the ability to act decisively regarding changing cases and situations and further develop HWC protocols in consultation with the DWRVM. Candidates must have experience in seabird rehabilitation and be able to handle the rigors of seabird fallout season, when 400-800 birds come through the HWC Oʻahu Seabird Aid Program and 40-80 birds may need to be evaluated daily during the peak fallout.
